What's your wall? (IM#293)

It's very important to figure out the things we want to overcome and never get to that situation ever again. Finding out this means finding out our wall.

After finding the wall, we must execute through determination to reach our true potential. Finding the wall gives us the strength and motivation to move forward. So, it's worth to find the wall. It might be drugs or being broke or poor relationship or loneliness or whatever it is...

Well, what's your wall then?

It's worth the wait (IM#292)

It is obvious that triumph comes from hard-work. With triumph comes the reward. It's always worth the wait.

That is where patience plays a key.

There are three phases in life: Executing phase, Waiting phase, and the Reward phase. Most people ignore the waiting phase not realizing that it is the connecting phase between our execution and the reward. We all need reward after the work- that's our rule. But the reality is: it seldom works.

It is very important to understand and acknowledge the patience because it's where we strengthen our knowledge and enhance our abilities.

A new insight of "hero" (IM#291)

Recently I came up with an interesting insight from a book "The hero with a thousand faces' by Joseph Campbell. According to him, heroes do not begin as heroes, they just start out leading ordinary lives in an ordinary world and are drawn by a "a call to adventure."

This lead them down the roads with full of trials filled with battles, temptations, success and failures. Along the way they are helped by others as  a mentors in various ways. During this journey, they also gain allies and enemies and learn how to fight.

But they have the audacity to overcome their fear because of their great determination to achieve what they want. They tend to get their special powers (Skills) from both "battles" they encounter that test and teach them, and from gifts (like advice) that they receive from others.

As they grow and learn, they both succeed and fail, but they succeed more than they fail because they learn from failure and bounce back more strongly striving for success.

The truth about Walmart (IM#290)

According to Business Insider, Walmart earned over $500 billion dollars in revenue in its 2018 fiscal year. This GDP is more than the GDP of Ireland($357.2B) and Austria($439.6B).

If Walmart was a country, it would be the 42nd largest economy of the world right behind Switzerland ($517.2B).

With the motto of "Save Money. Live Better." Walmart has become a huge global brand with more than 11,000 stores in 27 different countries.

How in the world did Walton family build this behemoth? What culture did he develop among the employee? How was it like in its inception?  It is very important to grasp the answer to these questions because today many countries in the world are struggling economically. They lack true insight behind building an economic empire. So, there is lot more to learn from Walmart journey.

Best path (IM#289)

The best paths are those that has more pros relative to the cons, not those with no cons.

The cons enhances our strength, knowledge and abilities.

So, don't look the path that has no cons, instead seek the path with more pros than the cons because it's worth it.

Priorities, Probabilities and possibilities (IM#288)

Anything is possible. The probability of getting things done depends upon prioritization.

All the possibilities must be looked in terms of its probability and likelihood.

Sometimes people identify possibilities without studying the probability which ends up making prioritization tough.

The biggest asset (IM#287)

The biggest asset is not the money or the organization you run or the business you own.

It is the mindset that you have.

Snooze is a trap (IM#286)

The snooze button is a trap...

It's a trap because not only you postpone your task but also you use your time and energy in deciding to decide later.

Just like snoozing the alarm every morning, we plan to decide our work later. As a result, we end up with piles of unanswered and undecided options that makes us overwhelmed and distracted.

So, snooze is not for us. It's not that hard; it's just 'in' or 'out', 'yes' or 'no'. It's 'now' or 'never'.

Discovering principles (IM#285)

Everything we encounter carries a lesson, whether the result feels good or bad.

When something works in our favor, we usually call it a good decision and feel proud of it. When something goes wrong, we call it a bad decision and feel disappointed or overwhelmed. That is a natural reaction, but it is often too shallow. The result alone is not the full story.

Every decision reveals something. Success shows us what was useful, and failure shows us what needs to be understood better. Both can teach us principles that make future decisions wiser and more grounded.

If we reflect properly, even painful results become useful. Instead of only judging outcomes emotionally, we can ask what they are trying to teach us. That is how experience becomes wisdom.

Power of followers (IM#284)

Leadership is about influence and making an impact in other people’s life. When it comes to leadership, followers play a vital role. He who thinks he leads, but has no follower is only taking a walk. If you can’t influence others, people won’t follow you. If they won’t follow you, you are not a leader. So, followers and their roles are inevitable when it comes to leadership.

Churchill once insisted, “Without victory there is no survival.” To grab victory, I believe there must be three things: 1. Unity in vision, 2. Diversity of skills, and 3. Combined dedication towards specific goal. All these are possible if and only if we have true followers. While working in a group potential or talent fall behind the unified vision. I had a real-life experience. While I was mentoring Education USA student about my research project this summer, there were students from all over the world and they were talented too. We were dedicated towards a common goal of completing the project on time. More than our individual talents, the most reliable and helpful quality was diversity in skills that helped us to reach our goal on time.

Followers are the one who bring real connection among the people and connection is very crucial when it comes the leadership. Connection is about sharing a common core values and a common goal. There is an old saying which goes, “To lead yourself, use your head; to lead others use your heart.” This clearly explains the power of followers. But it doesn’t mean that leaders are not important. Leaders are the one who bring aspirations to the followers. They are the one who can navigate the future, recognize obstacles long before they appear on the horizon and attract more followers. This reflects that leaders and followers are co-related.
