Loss and Gains (IM 383)

There was a research done with monkey and apples. A monkey was given an apples and observed that he was happy. And he was given two apples. But when one of the two apple was taken away from him, he was so freaked out even though he still had one apple.

Human beings react in same way. The jealousy we have developed within us has harmed our living. We don't have anything in the beginning. We get something through our work or through luck and we become happy. But nothing lasts long.

“For everything you have missed, you’ve gained something, and for everything you gain, you lose something.” -Ralph W. Emerson

We don't realize that we are already missing something when we gain something. But when we lose some of what we already have then we exaggerate our loss and failure. This is how human reacts. The pleasure of our victories is overshadowed by the pain of our failures and losses.

We haven't acknowledge the words that Ralph W. Emerson said about a century ago.

Our pains and failures are true so are our success and happiness….

Living well and doing well (IM 382)

“From all your herds, a cup or two of milk,
From all your granaries, a loaf of bread,
In all your palace, only half a bed:
Can man use more? And do you own the rest?”

— Ancient Sanskrit poem

There is a difference between living well and doing well.

We often assume that the first naturally leads to the second. We imagine that if we accumulate enough wealth, success, influence, or property, life itself will become fuller in proportion. But this verse points to a limit that success often refuses to admit. Human need does not expand as quickly as human ambition. No matter how much the herd grows, the body still asks only for a cup or two of milk.

That is what makes the last question so sharp: Do you own the rest? Much of what we chase in life is never truly lived. It is stored, managed, protected, displayed, and maintained, but not deeply used. At some point, excess stops becoming freedom and starts becoming weight. The extra room in the palace may impress the eye, but it does not change how much of the bed the body can occupy.

This is why doing well should never be confused with living well. Doing well belongs to achievement, expansion, and outer success. Living well belongs to proportion, peace, and the ability to actually inhabit what one has built. A person can succeed in the eyes of the world and still fail to experience their own life properly.

The deeper question is not how much we can gather, but how much we can truly live. If we build beyond our capacity to inhabit, then much of what we call success becomes architecture without intimacy. We may spend years enlarging the palace only to discover that life was always happening in half the bed.

Are we missing reality? (IM 381)

Many research shows that we only see the things that we want to see. In this case I believe we miss the reality. We don't see reality; we only see some part of reality that we want to see and that we care about.

The more we focus on one thing we more we become closed to other openness of the universe, and hence more reality we miss.

Minding mind (IM 380)

Mind is the state of constant thinking. Minding our mind simply means taking control over our mind. Whatever we think, we create the thoughts, which creates words. These words are the building blocks of our life; in fact, they shape our life.

Inner peace is the state attained when we take control over our mind because it (inner peace) depends on inner state, and our mind becomes tranquil and outer peace finally follows.

Minding our minds shape our life and nourishes us to live happy, prosperous, fulfilling and peaceful life. What more do we need?

When we start taking control over our mind, life start to happen from us not to us- we start creating something purposeful, something fulfilling, something meaningful and valuable. But, it leaves us with choice.

No one can stop your destiny (IM 379)

Your destiny depends more on you than on anyone else.

People often look outward for the reason their life is not moving, but the deepest force is usually internal. No one can fully stop you except the part of you that hesitates, abandons, or refuses to keep going. Direction is not something handed down by the world. It is shaped by what you choose, what you endure, and what you continue to build.

You create your destiny. It is up to you whether you strengthen it or stand in its way.

Hope for the best (IM 378)

The future is always uncertain. Hoping for the best is always a good way to go. Nobody is good at everything. Someone is good at something and others at other thing.

Making ourselves optimistic is very important in a long run which happens when we start to hope for the best.

No matter how the past has gone, no matter how the present moment seems to like, let's hope for the better future. That's all we can do.

Embrace reality (IM 377)

Reality is harsh. It's hard to accept it sometimes.

But when we start to embrace reality not only in the good time but also in hard times then we start to see world differently. In other word, we won't struggle with any problems or we won't get stuck with any difficulties. All pain and discomfort cease.

Embracing reality is tough, but it doesn't mean it's unattainable. We can start embracing reality by being conscious of the present moment. It makes us live in the present moment, which is the only controllable moment.

Intention matters (IM 376)

Our intention matters...

Most of us do one thing and have different intention on the hinge sight. If our intention and our doing are not in alignment with each other then we might not get to far. Our result will not be as expected.

And the most important thing is that our intention should not be in expense of others but it should be in favor of every human being. That will give us the true meaning of existence.

Consciousness and uncertainty (IM 375)

Consciousness is being aware of present through which living occur.  It's the primary purpose of living. More precisely, the primary purpose of living is to allow the consciousness to flow into what we do. Thinking about the past and making plans about the future isn't consciousness and will not make us conscious.

Being conscious means being aware that every thoughts are not a fact or truth. Every thoughts is a perceptive and every perspective implies limitation on something, which is not the fact/truth.

Consciousness does not involve future. Being comfortable with this uncertainty brings infinite possibilities along the way. It opens infinite number of doors of opportunity. When we become certain of something, we only go for that thing and become able (or unable) to attract it. When we're able to attract it, our insatiable hunger doesn't get satisfied because we are voracious being and nothing appease us.

But as we have already fixed our mind to something, which didn't gave us the level of fulfillment (that we'll never attain) we wanted, our possibilities starts to seize and life start to seem like a burden.

Don't get me wrong, it's good to be certain of something. But being certain to something and also being comfortable with uncertainty is the level of consciousness we all need to have a jovial and fulfilled life.

Faith (IM 374)

Faith is the trust we have on something or somebody. It's a strong belief. It is intrinsic.

The strength of our belief system defines the strength of our faith. Faith attracts our goals and brings it into life. It's powerful. It's hard to get something when we don't have faith towards it.

It's the light that guides us through darkness..
