Perspective is everything (IM 393)

A wind extinguishes a candle but fans a fire.

Whatever the impact is, the consequences is always good on the background even though there is negative impact directly.

It is up to us how we view consequences. Everything depends on perspective.

We can benefit a lot from this….

Everything is cause and effect (IM 392)

Keep your heart free from hate and your mind free from worries.

Give more, expect less.

Don’t take yourself serious.

Fill your life with love.

Do as you think you would be done by.

Change yourself not your work then work will seem to be different.

Don’t try everything at once

Practice being relaxed.

Get correct mental attitude.

Get closer with the friend with positive point of view.

Feed your mind with optimism about everything.

Discipline yourself.

Keep your work unto your schedule.

Cultivate happiness habit.

Everything is effect and a cause. Where there is effect, there is a cause. There is no such things as luck and chance. Whatever effect we want to have in our life, there is a cause. And it depends on us how we live each moment of our life…

Culture (IM 391)

“One of the key insights from Bushido is that a culture is not a set of beliefs, it’s a set of actions.”
   — Ben Horowitz

A culture is the core value that defines the way we do our work. It is the way we act.

A company's culture is the way the company works to deliver products to their customers; it's the way they treat their employee and their customers. It defines their future.

The Marshmallow challenge (IM 390)

Peter Skillman's experiment about building a Marshmallow tower surprised me. He performed an experiment among various group of people including MBA students, Lawyers, Engineers, and Kinder garden kids. The result was astonishing.

It was the Kindergarten kids who build the tallest marshmallow tower among all of those group.

There is a lean startup skill in kinder kids that we all can learn from.

We all are dumb at many things (IM 389))

We argue that we are smart. But the truth is we're not.

In this vast universe there are billions people and there are billions and billions thing we don't even see, touch, hear, taste or feel. And those thing that we can't see, hear, feel, taste, or touch can't be even brought into mind and then into action.

So, we don't know most things that exists in this world. We try to be smart and pretend that we know a lot of the information. But that's not true.

So, we all are dumb at many things.

Remember (IM 388)

Unattainable goals appeal to heroes.

Capable people worry about the future.

Wise people work  to make their present pleasant.

The unwise worry about nothing.

The "Two us" (IM 287)

We all have two version of ourselves. One is the logical and conscious us and other one is the emotional and sub-conscious us. These 'two us' fights to control us every time.

Sometimes conscious us wins and sometimes the unconscious one.

The more important thing is to make sure to use proper us as needed and as per the situation in proper time

Detachment (IM 386)

Detachment does not mean you own nothing; it means nothing owns you.

- Bhagavad Gita

When we are attached to something we repel other possibilities on our way. Being detached with everything and not be identified with anything is the best possible way to live a happy and extra-ordinary life.

Being attached with something means doing things to get those things, which as a result create ego, hatred, jealousy, argument, and many negative triggers. All of these bring disharmony in our life.

Being aware of it is the most important lesson we have to learn as early as possible, otherwise it's going to deep-seated within us and hence will be very hard to remove.

Thinking System (IM 385)

Malcolm Gladwell, in his book "Outliers", talks about the difference between people who fail and succeed in anything. He talks about how in wealthy families they teach their children something very different than in poor and middle class families.

He gives an example of how to interact with an authority. Middle class and poorer people are taught to fear authority. In this industrial age, you have to fear from the guy who runs the factory/company.

In his book, Gladwell gives an example of how poor and rich children interact when they are taken to dentists. The middle class family will teach their child that the dentist is God. He has dentist have studied for 10 years and been doing this for his lifetime. He knows everything. So, you as a child keep quiet and just wait for it to be over and do what he says to do.

Whereas the wealthy families, they approach this situation completely differently. They tell their child, the  dentist is your friend. He has studied as a dentist for 10 years just to serve and help you. He is the resource you can use to solve you teeth issue. If you have any questions about your mouth and teeth then you must ask the dentist because it's his job to help you.

This two kind of thinking is so fascinating and one of this exists in us. The former one will not improve us and make us successful while the later one does.

It is the thinking system that does everything.

Our "two" barriers (IM 384)`

Our biggest barriers are

Ego and
Blind spots

Ego barrier is the subliminal defense mechanism of every individual. It's an act of making hard to accept weakness and mistakes. It exists in the temporal lobe of human brain that controls emotions and subconscious thinking. It always try to prove yourself right. It receives any criticism as an attack rather than a way for an improvement.

Everybody has blind spots. We all see things in our own way and so we have different level/range of seeing and understanding things and situations just like we have different range of hearing pitch and recognizing color.

Recognizing and understanding the ego barriers and removing them consciously will improve our knowledge, help us to make good decisions and enhances our potential.  Becoming more open-minded is better way to challenge the ego barriers.

Acknowledging that everybody has blind spot forces us to explore more on what's true and what is the best decision rather than what we believe is true and best.

These two are the biggest barriers to human potential. Whoever can't crack them will fall short on whatever they do. So make sure you come above it.
