Who we are living for? (IM 664)

The answer to this question will bring everything into perspective. This answer will change the decision we make every single day.

It is the powerful source of motivation that drives us towards our purpose. We know we all are living for ourselves. But why are we worrying of other people’s opinion? Why are we demotivated by other’s critics? Its because we don’t have a clear and honest answer to this question.

The question “Who we’re living for? “will change our lives if we’ve an honest answer.

Feed your destiny (IM 663)

Don't feed what you don't want in your life. Water only the things you want. If you water weed instead of flowers, the flower soon dies while the weed grows.  Same follows in our life.

So, feed your destiny. Feeding your destiny is always rewarding...

Progress (IM 662)

Ray Dalio in his book “Principles- life and work” said that pain is a signal that you need to find a solution so that you can progress. Reflecting well while you are in pain gives us the most important lessons needed for your growth and progress.

Carl Jung once said,”Man need difficulties. They are necessary for health.” These difficulties generates pain which when reflected generates progress.

When you are not in pain, you won’t push your limit. No pushing your limit means not maximizing your potential. Not maximizing your potential means no progress. The most important thing here is the reflection, which is the lessons and the strength learned and gained during the pain.

So pain + reflection is always a progress…

Our judgements (IM 661)

It doesn’t make sense to call something good or evil in the sense based on how it affects us. We judge everything based on our experience with it which is where we all fall behind.

Everything happens for the betterment of entire universe not a single species. That’s how the nature works.

Nature optimizes for the whole, not for an individual, but most of us judge things based on how it affects us. Every situation we encounter is a road to the evolution, which is the single greatest force in the universe.

So our judgement should not be based on individual experience, instead it should be from very upper level- from the level of nature.

Predetermining execution (IM 660)

Predetermining execution is planning the action long before actually acting it. It is the psychological and mental process. In other words, it’s doing mental work before the physical work.

We get 2 benefits when we predetermine execution:

We become fearless as we’ve prepared well. Fearlessness enhances confidence which in turn develops trust finally resulting success.
We can re-direct the path as we can see the problems and obstacles long ahead. It gives us the sense of self-improvement and self-respect as we follow the course of action we designed to execute.

Instant gratification (IM 659)

Today, the world is in such a time that everything is has become very accessible to the people. We can easily talk with the person we like in a matter of seconds no matter where the person lives. We can order the dress and attire we like by sitting at home. We can even get the food we like in our couch in a matter of minute.

Similarly, we can not only watch movie on Netflix without leaving our home but also can watch the specific scene of the specific movie as per our desire or want. All these facilities contribute a certain type of gratification. It is instant, yet short-term.

Not only it applies to relationship world, it also applies to the educational world as everyone can learn anything they want and whenever they want.

And the most important questions arise after analyzing this: Does this instant gratification have any impacts in our life? Are we becoming lazy? or Are we missing the experience of the process?

It's always worth it to answer these questions before falling into the instant gratification again...

We are shaped by the culture (IM 658)

Individual's spatial experiences are shaped by their culture whether it be consciously or sub-consciously. The idea that we all are joining colleges and universities to get education, a good grade with the goal of getting a job so that we can make our life better is a kind of culture we have been following for years. This is actually a global culture and we, human beings, have been the greatest followers.

We have been so trained/brainwashed with it that we can't even ignore and become a rebel.

The idea of getting good grade to get a 9 to 5 job or the idea of goal setting or even the idea of capitalism is nothing more that the culture or beliefs we, humans, have been following. Though we may not realize it, but it has been dictating us for years and we all are the greatest example of it.

I believe that the idea of believing in this culture or traditions or beliefs is not because it is objectively true but because believing in it enables us to co-operate effectively and forge a better society.

The "keys" (IM 657)

If you find a key somewhere in the ground, will you pick it up? As you don't know what lock it fits it, you will most likely hesitate or even ignore it.

The important of key is to know which lock will it unlocks. Without knowing the target to unlock, the key is of no use. So, it makes less sense when you find something or some knowledge or ideas, but don't know where to utilize it.

The real benefit happen when you have the key and you have the lock that the same key can unlock.

Tending towards normalcy (IM 657)

Every condition reverses itself and it tries to become normal. That's universal. This equanimity and balance holds true in almost every aspects of the life.

What increases will fall back and what downgrades will upgrade to become normal. Every losses has some kind of gains and every gains come with some losses.  As a saying goes, "For everything you lose, you gain something and for everything you gain you lose something." Well, it's all about balance. That how we humans and the nature, as a whole, is evolved.

  1. “The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.”

  4. “Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt.”
  5. “All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when we are able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must appear inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.”
  6. “The greatest victory is that which requires no battle.”
  7. “Thus we may know that there are five essentials for victory: 1 He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight. 2 He will win who knows how to handle both superior and inferior forces. 3 He will win whose army is animated by the same spirit throughout all its ranks. 4 He will win who, prepared himself, waits to take the enemy unprepared. 5 He will win who has military capacity and is not interfered with by the sovereign.”
  8. “There are not more than five musical notes, yet the combinations of these five give rise to more melodies than can ever be heard. There are not more than five primary colors, yet in combination they produce more hues than can ever been seen. There are not more than five cardinal tastes, yet combinations of them yield more flavors than can ever be tasted.”
  9. “To win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill.”
  10. “If you know the enemy and know yourself, your victory will not stand in doubt; if you know Heaven and know Earth, you may make your victory complete.”
  11. "There are roads which must not be followed, army which must not be attacked, towns which must not be besized and position which must not be contested."
