Things to admire..(IM 363)

There are many things people admire in the world—wealth, beauty, influence, status, and recognition. But most of these are external. They can attract attention, yet they do not always reveal depth, strength, or character. What is admired on the surface is not always what is most valuable in a human being.

The qualities most worth admiring are often quieter. They do not always make noise, but they shape a life from within:

Compassion.
Empathy.
Sympathy.
Kindness.
Gratitude.
Patience.
Persistence.
Humility.
Self-awareness.
Optimism.
Execution.

These are the qualities that make a person strong in a lasting way. Compassion and empathy make us more human. Gratitude and patience bring steadiness. Persistence and execution turn intention into reality. Humility and self-awareness protect us from arrogance and blindness. Optimism gives courage to continue when life becomes difficult.

What we admire matters because admiration shapes direction. If we admire only appearance, success, or power, we may end up chasing things that do not deepen us. But if we admire character, discipline, and inner strength, we begin to value what actually sustains a meaningful life.

So it is worth asking what kind of qualities deserve our respect. Not merely what looks impressive for a moment, but what remains valuable over time. In the end, the things we admire most often reveal the kind of person we are slowly becoming.
