It’s hard….(IM#70)
Waking up early in the morning is hard.
Doing exercise early in the morning is hard.
Meditating every day is hard.
Understanding yourself is one of the hardest things you will ever do.
Choosing to work on your craft every weekend while others are at parties is hard.
Standing aside from the masses and going against them is hard.
Deciding what you truly want to do with your life and figuring out your next move in the face of impossibility is hard
Moving forward in spite of difficulty and uncertainty is an immense challenge.
But this is exactly the reason why we should do these things. In the context of a long game, a disciplined work ethic is not about ease; it is about transformation. Doing hard things builds a foundation of confidence that cannot be shaken by external circumstances. It enhances our self-respect, improves our internal strength, and makes us more alive over time.
This friction is what makes us grow. By choosing the difficult path of the process over the easy path of the crowd, we build the endurance necessary to stay in the game. Real growth only happens when we embrace the hard work that others avoid. These daily choices are the structural pillars of a life built to last.
