Wishful thinking - A trap to come out of (IM 795)

“If wishes were horses, beggars would ride it.”

-Unknown

Every single person is born genius; they dream big. Dreaming without any hard-work is just a wish and wishes only gives us the illusion of success without never perceiving and achieving it. If you dream of getting rich you should be willing to do enormous amount of hard-work.  Without any determination and perseverance it is obvious that you will remain poor. So stop wishing and start working.

The interesting thing is there is no single person in the earth who have achieved enormous success without working right of their face. Focus on your dream, plan, execute, hold on it with unwavering faith, associate with right people who can help you achieve your dream, learn from failure, execute again.

PS: A note to myself. Repost from past post

A clear end (IM 794)

“Look to the end, no matter what it is you are considering. Often enough god gives man a glimpse of happiness and utterly ruins him.”

-The Histories, Herodotus, Fifth Century

Unhappy endings are much more common than happy ones, yet we are overwhelmed by the happy endings in our mind. If we have clear and far thinking, we will understand that the future is uncertain and we must be open to adaptation. Proper planning all the way to the end is necessary in order to get victory. Our plans doesn’t work in most of the cases because they are too vague and open ended. When we are in the process of striking a massive success, we should not lose our head over a vague, open-ended dream but plan to the end.

The biggest challenge in the process of achieving dream is to know when to stop. The solution to this challenge is by planning all the way to the conclusion. We should know when to stop while we are in the mission of achieving great success because the person who goes to far in his triumphs creates a reaction that inevitably leads to decline.  There is a simple reason why most people fall after massive success- they form no concrete idea of their goal, once they achieve victory they become hungry for more. That’s a true disaster! To foresee future we should have a concrete plan all the way to the end of our goals.

A trap to be aware of (IM 793)

Success is what we all are seeking, but in the name of success we seek happiness in material things. And get trapped on the fancy things which we all no will not makes us happy long term.

So, Don’t mistake the trappings of success for success itself

Facts and dreams (IM 792)

We can debate on that. But it’s true that facts are better than the dreams.

Dream is important but one can’t ignore that fact. One can’t ignore the brutal truth. Following the dreams but ignoring the facts might take us nowhere.

So, it’s important to know that the facts are better than the dreams.

Claustrum and consciousness (IM 791)

Francis Crick and his colleague Christof Koch studied consciousness by focusing on the function of obscure structure called claustrum.

The claustrum is a thin sheet of cells underlying in the insular cortex of human brain, one on each hemisphere. The main function of claustrum is still uncertain but the structural and functional streamlining might ensure that when the waves of information come through claustrum, its neuron will be sensitive to the timing of the inputs.

But how is it related with the consciousness? Consciousness is self-awareness and deals the present moment or the memories as a unity. It attributes present "just" and "now" situation.

Just like consciousness, claustrum unify all the information in the brain. It unifies everything anatomically and consciousness does so mentally. Crick and Koch recognized that this is not coincidence. Their intuition was that claustrum may be the central to consciousness.

Obviously this analogy has no scientific proof but we might be too wrong to ignore it.

"Elegant" Vs. "Correct" (IM 790)

They both are different. An elegant stuff might not be correct and the correct stuff might not be elegant. But it's always better to have both.

An idea might be elegant but incorrect. An idea might seem ethical and correct but not elegant.

"Elegant" is in the eye of beholder. "Correct" is decided by the ultimate judge of science, history nature or the result from experiments.

Excuses... (IM 789)

There is always an excuse sitting against our decision.

But if we are determined to do what we love and willing to do whatever it takes then we can actually do it.

If we make an excuse, we can really find good excuses.

But, we all want to execute on the things we love and the things that are meaningful. So, stop making an excuses and stop seeking them as well.

Important and being measured (IM 788)

The question is: Is something important because it is measured or is it measured because it is important?

Are we focusing on the things because they are important or is it important to focus on the things of unknown value?

What matters is... (IM 787)

..... the character that develops consistency.

It is the inner strength that gives the ability to perform constantly and continuously.
“You can’t get too much in life if you work only on the days when you feel good.”

-NBA player Jerry West
We got to have the ability and the inner strength to perform or keep performing our action and work no matter how worse the situations is. This is what consistency is. And for this we got to develop the same kind of determined character. Nobody can go beyond the limitation of their own character.

Our character is important in achieving great success. Character generates consistency, consistency develops trust (self or the people in the organization), trust develops progress, and progress is what success is.

Science knows the future? (IM 786)

The job of science is to discover things. It discover new technology, new drugs, new treatments, and new machinery. They discover artificial implants. If your heart is not working, this can be fixed by replacing with artificial pacemaker.

The future of all the discovery relies on politics and economics. The technology lasts long if it drives economic to the world or if it has gains for political issues. The discovery of atom bombs, nuclear bombs, and missiles were popular because it helped during the world wars during mid 20th century.

We can see this happen with the covid-19 vaccines development. But the question always remain: Does science knows the future? If yes, are we focusing on building a better future?
