Moods and actions (IM 536)

The way how we feel about the things means the mood, which is driven by the external events in most of the cases. And that feeling determines our action.

The way how we act, in turn, determines how we feel.

This is the circular path: Feelings, Moods, Actions, Feeling......

As we see, this path is driven by the events, which is an external force. So as a result, our action is affected by external events not by our internal force.

The interesting thing about our moods is that we can practice having our moods driven by our internal force, which is possible only when we become present in the "present moment".

As a result, our action will be triggered by moods, which is the result of our own internal force.

Potential is not the end goal(IM 535)

Human potential is not the peak. It is the journey.

We make a false belief that when we extend our inner belief and not settle for low then we live our potential. We work hard to meet our potential.

The truth is ultimate potential is never met. Achieving the potential means living in it.

Is it the "option" days? (IM 535)

Trading has been very unpredictable due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Stock market has been swinging every day in a week making the record high since 1987. Stocks are swimming in the 'red ocean' because of the fear of this crisis.

But people buying "options" are making money as you can buy both "call" and "put" which means you can make money when the stock goes up or down.

Trading has always been risky, but it's the time to minimize the downside and maximize the upside. I believe buying a long-term option (call) and a short-term (put) might help achieve that goal.

But it all depends on how you analyze and select the stocks.

It depends on your perspective. So, is it the right time to trade "options"?

What matters the most (IM 534)

During this crisis, I’ve been reminded of what truly matters. When everything else feels uncertain, five things rise to the surface:

  1. Health.
  2. Family.
  3. Integrity.
  4. Kindness.
  5. Courage.

These aren’t just ideas to admire—they’re the foundation we need to lean on during an epidemic. Staying healthy protects not only ourselves but the people we love. When we take care of our own well‑being, we strengthen our families and our communities.

Kindness becomes a force multiplier. In a moment when fear can spread as quickly as a virus, choosing compassion helps slow the panic and strengthens our collective resilience. And courage isn’t about pretending we’re not afraid; it’s about acting responsibly and supporting one another despite the fear.

If we hold onto these five values, we give ourselves the best chance to get through this moment—together.

Form follows emotion (IM 533)

It is the creation that follows the emotions. The perfection in form is required to intrigue human mind and soul. But it’s not only the visible part, mostly it is the invisible one.

A great carpenter isn’t going to use bad woods for the back of the cabinet, even though nobody is going to see it.

So targeting the perfection is how we advance ourselves and the future generation. And it means caring about the craftsmanship even of the parts unseen

Everything changes (IM 532)

Things changes…

Knowledge enhances…

Skills strengthens…

Mindset varies…

Everything seems different..

The thing that you are afraid of before gets familiar to you and you won’t be afraid of that anymore.

It’s true that you become conscious of your past and judge your present on that basis and it’s important to do that.  Whether you are conscious of your change or not, it really happens. The decision after realizing and being aware of that change is up to us; it’s our choice.

Everything changes. And it happens for better, whether it be a small or large.

The Pareto Principle (IM 531)

It is said that 80% of your result depends on the 20% of your dedication and work.

This is Pareto principle, aka 80/20 principle.

If you focus your attention on the activities that rank in the top 20% in terms of importance or priorities then you’ll have 80% return in your effort.

Similarly, 80% of your profit in any business organization is brought by 20% of your plans.

And 80% of the sales is brought by 20% of your customers.

If this works then the challenge is to figure out that top 20% of our priorities, top 20% of our customers, top 20% of our plans and projects.

Is it the time to make something better? (IM 530)

The world is dynamic and because of the current epidemic everything is being digitilized. From meetings to classes, everything is going online. Fortunately, there are some powerful tools that provide the platform to make that happen.

But on the hindsight, there are so many loopholes and weaknesses in those platform. We can feel it right now as we encounter it everyday.

So isn't it the good time to replace those with our own ideas? Isn't it the perfect time to contribute something meaningful to the world? Isn't it the perfect time to solve world's digital problem?

We have the chance to reinvent and revolutionize the digital field.

But the true challenge is "how?"...

The intriguing part about moving online is that it's the best way to learn and everybody likes it. People may dislike education but everyone likes to learn. People may be reluctant with college but everyone is open for knowledge. People may hate showing up but everyone love having conversation. And this phase (self-isolation) provides all the things that a human species are passionate about.

So why don't we begin to solve the digital problem that we have been encountering every single day? Why don't we make the agriculture digitilized? How about tech field? Medical devices? Social Platforms?

Let's look for the problems in digital field during this phase as problems are the inception of every discovery.

And Isn't it the best time to make some big discovery?

What killed that frog (IM 529)

There is this beautiful story about an experiment done on a frog that teaches a very important lesson to our generation today.

A frog was taken and was kept in a container half filled with water. Then a container was slowly heated. As the temperature of water increased the frog kept adapting with the temperature of water. The water was further heated and the frog used its strength to combat with the heat by adjusting its body temperature accordingly. Now when the temperature was very high and the frog could not adapt with the temperature. So it tried to jump out of container but couldn't because all its energy and strength was used to change its body temperature and was left with no further energy.

And finally the frog died...

So what killed that frog?

If your answer is the boiling water then you are wrong. The frog died because of its inability to decide when to jump out of water. Instead of using its energy to change its body temperature, it should have used its strength to jump out of container in the very beginning. As the frog used all its energy to adapt to the temperature of water, it was left with no energy and got no option other than to die.

This story is so relatable with human beings. We don't act on proper time and when we decide to act its too late and we are forced to face the consequences. This follows that its always better to take proper decision on proper time based the situation.

To defeat an epidemic (IM 528)

"To defeat an epidemic, people need to trust scientific experts, citizen need to trust public authorities, and countries need to trust each other. To prevent the catastrophe we need to regain the trust we have lost in the past. You can not defeat the global epidemic through propaganda and an isolation. The real antidote is scientific knowledge and global cooperation."      -Yuval Noah Hararri

This is a good time to learn patience and develop self-care.  This is a good time to read more and learn new skills. We, people must trust the authorities and eventually this will go away.
