Time and result (IM 615)

These are controversy…

We count our time. We get paid by the hours we work. We value our work with the time spent on it. We value relationship with the time we give our partners

For me, it makes no sense that we all focus on the time we spent on doing something rather than focusing on the result.

We must focus on the results of our work not on the time spent on it because it’s worth it.

Pushing the limitation (IM 614)

To do well in our journey, we have to push our own limitations. When we push our limitations we will crash with reality and it will hurt a lot. We think we failed but its not true unless we quit.

The pain of this failure will soon fade and the light of new knowledge will encounter. New opportunity will come ahead of us though we might not see it physically. So the important thing is to gather as much lessons as possible from all those failures. This increases the chance of our success.

It all starts with pushing our limitations

Open-minded vs closed-minded (IM 613)

The nature of person being open-minded or closed-minded play a huge role in success and failure of the person in both life and work. Open minded people are the one who don't want their ideas challenged while closed minded are the one who are curious about disagreement and  always prefer a healthy counter-argument.

Closed-minded people (CMP) feel bad if something they did went wrong and get angry when someone disagrees while open-minded people (OMP) aren't angry when someone disagrees. CMP prefer to make statements than to ask questions. OMP know when to make an statement and when to ask questions; in fact they ask lots of questions.

CMP focus more on being understood than understanding others perspective while the counter part always see through other people's eyes. CMP lack deep sense of humility and are interested in speaking than listening but OMP are completely opposite.

Result and justification (IM 612)

It has been the most difficult yet intriguing paradox to understand. We think we justify the results but most often it shows that our result is justifying.

We don’t seek meaning before we do something. We seek meaning after we get result from something. Is it the human nature? or is it because we don’t care about it too much? This has been the mysterious question lately.

The world we see has different meaning onto us based on the experience we’ve gone through and our inner self. Yet we have to realize that whatever it is whether we justify our result or the result justifies us, it has just one consequence and that is ourselves. So we just have to justify it in our favor

The world seems more united (IM 611)

Today, the world seems more united than ever before. It is said that we, sapiens, instinctively divide humanity into two parts: "us" and "them", which is in the verse of collision. The problem of one city or a country is no longer their own problem. It's the problem of whole world. The protest of one state is not only theirs'; it's of the entire globe.

Humanity have evolved a long way...

The biases based on race, ethnicity, castes and religions exists only in our imagination, which is embedded in this material world and it is designed to be that way to run the world. It obvious that this imagined stuff is always in the verse of collapse because that's what it's meant to be.

The fact that man hunt the deer doesn't make deer inferior to the man and the fact that the tiger hunt the deer doesn't make tiger inferior to the man. There is no superiority or inferiority; it's only the matter of imagination. All of these stuff are just like viruses living in the host. They live in the  mind of humans, completely deteriorating the host (mind).

But let's not forget that our history and our world is always moving towards unity not diversity, which follows that the future is meant to be even more unified.

A lesson in navigation (IM 610)

Effective navigation come into effect with experience. No matter how much you learn from your past action, it will never teach you all you need for the present and the future. That's why navigation is important.

A captain who doesn't know how to navigate the road ahead will likely sink the ship and so does all the business and corporate leaders and entrepreneurs. J. Maxwell wrote it beautifully as: PLAN AHEAD:

Predetermine the course of action.

Lay out your goals.

Adjust you priorities.

Notify key personnel.

Allow time for acceptance.

Head into action.

Expect problems.

Always point to the success.

Daily review your plans.

Cost and Value (IM 609)

A $150 bottle of wine takes almost the same time as to make  $30 bottle of wine. A $50 worth of Nike sneakers can last as much a $200 worth of Nike pairs.

In most of the cases, the cost of the stuffs is not relevant. The cost cannot add value to the stuff. And people pay attention to its value not the cost. Customers don't care about what the time or energy it took for you to make those products. They care about what values your product will add to their life.

It's always about the values. Value is primary; everything else is secondary.

Selling the solution (IM 608)

We all are obsessed with selling our products but nobody cares about the existing problems in the world not realizing that in a long run, who endures is the one who sells the solutions to these problems. Products has no future; only solutions has.

We care about our product. We care about the ROI, but we don’t have a clue what impact that product has brought in people lives.

Instead of focusing on selling our product, we must provide solution to the problems in peoples life. Most importantly, investors should change their questions from what product do your company offer to what problems do your company solve. This will give rise to a revolutionized and long-lasting company for humanity.

Being vulnerable has positive outcome (IM 607)

Being vulnerable  is the quality or the state of being attacked or harmed. It is a crisis that make us difficult to breathe under any circumstances. Without this crisis there is no any creation and innovation.
So vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity, and change and it always has a positive outcome

What exactly is happiness? (IM 606)

Some researcher argue that happiness depends on one and one thing only - pleasant sensation in our body. It doesn't depend on objective condition like health, wealth or even prestige. Rather it depends on the correlation between objective condition and the subjective expectations.

When things improve, expectation enhances, and even good objective conditions may leave us deserted and dissatisfied. When things go wrong, expectation shrinks and even bad objective condition may make you as happy as before.

Some social scientist believe that the key to happiness are in the hand of biochemical system. They believe that lasting happiness comes only form serotonin, dopamine and Oxytocin. Aldous Huxley, in his novel Brave New World, published in 1932 during the Great Depression, states the only way to make people experience high level of happiness is to manipulate their biochemical system.

Some scholars, on the other hand, believe that happiness consists in seeing one's life as entirely meaningful and worthwhile. A meaningful life can be extremely satisfying even if it's full of hardships. But from scientific point of view, human life has no goal or purpose or a meaning and if our earth were to blow up tomorrow, the whole universe will keep doing its business as usual. Thus any meaning that we ascribe to our lives is just a delusion. So, perhaps happiness is synchronizing one's personal delusions of meaning with prevailing collective delusions.

Now the real question arises...

If happiness is based on feeling pleasant sensations, can we be happy if we re-engineer our bio-chemical system? Why aren't we investing billions in understanding our brain chemistry and developing appropriate treatments, ignoring all the revolutions?

And if happiness is based on feeling that life is meaningful, then is it true that to be more happier we need to delude ourselves more effectively?

Or is there any other alternative?
