Advancing mind Vs Competitive mind (IM#58)

An advancing mind is expandable. People with this kind of mind are always open to learning more. It focuses on one’s own actions. It does not settle too early or become satisfied with small results. Every result becomes a lesson for the next step.

A competitive mind, on the other hand, depends too much on the actions of others. This kind of mind is more concerned with comparison than growth. It often believes itself to be smart without doing the work required to become better. A competitive mind gives rise to jealousy and hatred.

Those with an advancing mind aspire to learn more, do more, and give more.

Those with a competitive mind, by contrast, become too concerned with their own talent, resist learning, expect more, and give less.

Do not fall into the trap of the competitive mind, because it keeps us detached from truly living an advancing life.
