What more does it mean? (IM 486)

We are often too quick to judge the situations we encounter. We see a difficult situation as a bad day and a favorable one as good luck. Much of what we do is shaped by the way we feel about the moment.

But are we too quick to judge the situation? I think we are.

Without waiting, and without looking at it in hindsight, we make conclusions based on our past experience and our habits. But the truth is that every situation may carry more meaning than our first reaction allows us to see. What looks painful now may later reveal its purpose. What feels unfair may still be working in our favor in ways we do not yet understand.

So when we face a good or bad moment, and when we go through something difficult, we should ask ourselves, “What more does it mean?”
