These two questions…

We all face overwhelming and stressful situations. A powerful strategy to deal with this is to pause and ask ourselves two clarifying questions

  1. "Is this within my control?"
  2. "Is this necessary?"

If the answer to the first question is no, recognize that expending energy on circumstances beyond our influence only fuels frustration.

Acceptance—acknowledging what we cannot change—can free us to focus on what truly matters.

If the answer to the second question is no, reconsider whether the situation deserves our mental bandwidth. Often, we fixate on unnecessary worries or impulsive actions rooted in past regrets.

By filtering decisions through the lens of necessity, we can prioritize purpose over reactivity.
