On Journaling (IM 976)

“Writing is medicine. It is an appropriate antidote to injury. It is an appropriate companion for any difficult change.” – Julia Cameron

For me, journaling has been the art of putting my things in order and making a habit. Starting with the lessons to be learned in early morning. I put myself in the journal.

As Tim Ferriss says, “I don’t journal to ‘be productive.’ I don’t do it to find great ideas or to put down prose I can later publish. The pages aren’t intended for anyone but me. It’s the most cost-effective therapy I’ve ever found.” Yes, journaling is just expressing the thoughts and casing it in the pages.

How I journal?

First, early in the morning I start with a quote on Wisdom or Power or Virtue or Logos or Strength or Will or Action..... The goal is to be in close with the quotes for the whole day. This is my first part of the journaling.

The rest part starts before going to bed. It has two section. On the first section, I journal about all the things that I did during the day, whether it be productive or un-productive.

At the last section, I write One thing that I learned during the day.

Here are the samples of my journal:

“Start writing, no matter what. The water does not flow until the faucet is turned on.” – Louis L’Amour
