Setting The System (IM 951)
A system is more than just a checklist; it is the deliberate alignment of actions, plans, ideas, and information designed to function in a repeatable way.
It is vital to architect these systems within both our personal lives and our businesses. An organization operating without a clear system is like a human with a broken backbone—it might exist for a moment, but it lacks the structural integrity to last. Without that core support, the entire entity eventually collapses under its own weight.
A robust system integrates every level of operation. It includes our core values and purpose, the art of how we engage with customers, and the framework we use to make high-stakes decisions. It scales from the grandest mission statement down to the smallest daily protocols of the team.
Setting the system is one of the most crucial acts of leadership because the system is the silent hand that determines the future of the organization and, ultimately, the trajectory of ourselves. Following the law of process means recognizing that we do not rise to the level of our goals; we fall to the level of our systems
