Habit matters (IM#248)
There is an old Hindu proverb that carries profound weight, one I find myself returning to every single day: For the first 30 years of your life, you make your habits, and for the rest of your life, your habits make you. It is a sobering reminder that we are currently architecting the very system that will one day carry us or consume us.
This isn't just a poetic observation; it is a fundamental law of growth. Building a foundation of intentional habits in your 20s is perhaps the most critical investment you will ever make. During these years, you are essentially programming the "operating system" that will run the rest of your life.
The challenge is that many people spend their energy on distractions rather than direction. To avoid this trap, you must ruthlessly focus only on the specific actions that align with your long-term vision. When you turn these actions into habits, you remove the need for constant willpower. You stop "trying" to succeed and start "operating" in a way that makes success inevitable.
As we know from the Law of Process, massive success is never the result of a single moment; it is the compound interest of your daily agenda. Soon, those habits will take over the heavy lifting, leading you steadily toward your goals and building a worth that is harder to defeat.
