The Myth of “Fake it till you make it”(IM#17)
Somebody told us that we have to look the part to win. That's why we are obsessed with faking it until we make it. When we are faking ourselves, it means we are living the life in defense; we are living the life of illusion. We are living someone else life. 'YOU' never live when you are living someone else life. And nothing is more heartbreaking then living some one else life. And most tragic thing about "fake it till you make it" is we are fooling only the looser not the winners.
For the sake of faking it until you make it we avoid our suffering not realizing the avoidance of suffering is the form of suffering. We deny failure not realizing the denial of failure is a failure. We hide our shame without realizing that hiding what is shameful is itself a form of shame. Will Smith said it beautifully- " We spend money we haven't earned on things we don't need to impress the people we don't like."
" We spend money we haven't earned on things we don't need to impress the people we don't like."

Behaving like other people is hiding our real feeling and our thoughts. A study published in the Journal of Consumer Research found that people who tried to prove their worth to others were more likely to dwell on their shortcomings. Ambitious professionals who wore luxury clothing in an effort to appear successful, and MBA students who wore Rolex watches to increase their self-worth just ended up feeling like bigger failures.
We have to be aware that this is a game. This game is not with others but with ourselves and living "OUR" version is the best way to be in the game.
If you're living someone else life, when you're living YOURS.......?
